EASIEST Way to Add Screen Shots to Anything You're Doing. For Real.

Oh, you've been there. It'd be easiest if you could actually share what is going on right on your screen, but how? Skitch is the answer. Importantly, it is FREE. Almost as importantly, it is EASY to use. You can grab screens, notate on them either with type or a drawing tool, and then use the images how you see fit. Simple. Go here to download (I would!): Skitch, you fool!

Then watch, quickly, how to use it. You'll never look back. Well, you might, but only to capture, notate and share. ;-)

Google Docs

With Google docs, a group pf people can work on the same document, or share ideas, without sending tons of e-mails. How does that work? Check out this video:

Hear how high school teachers use Goodle Docs with students and with each other:

How to Make and Share a Google Document:

Facebook

Face it, most of our students, and many of us, are on Facebook. This is one of the ways we all stay connected.

You can use Facebook in a few other exciting ways:

You can use Facebook to promote your department or program. Most high school students look for the Facebook pages of the colleges they are checking out. It is important that your program shows up when they go looking for you, don't you think?

Here are a few department or school Facebook pages:

You can also announce department or school events on Facebook. (MUCH BETTER THEN MAKING FLYERS!!)

Here is how to make a Facebook event page:

BLOGGER

To learn how to use blogger step-by-step go HERE.

Blogger is a FREE blogging site. You can use it to make available syllabi, internet links, and class assignments for students. You can use it to link to your students' webpages and blogs. You can use it to communicate with your students.

Here is an example of Kim Russo's Fine Arts Senior Thesis course blog at Ringling College of Art and Design http://rcadseniors.blogspot.com/

A second example is Cora Lynn Deibler's Illustration Area blog at the University of Connecticut: IllustratioNation

You can also use it to post information about your alumni, your college gallery, or your program. You can send these links to prospective students.

Ringling College of Art and Design's fine arts program uses Blogger to post information about their program, and another blog to post information about their alumni.

Here is an example of how Ringling College of Art and Design's fine arts program uses Blogger to post information about their student-run gallery.
